Saying Goodbye

It’s been a fulfilling 2 weeks and we crammed so much into  each day. I am so grateful to all my friends who made Debbie’s stay a memorable one. We spent the last days eating Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki at Hassho, learning to make sushi, going to a giant sushi shop that bring your sushi on a conveyor belt(..lots of fun!)

The other day we enjoyed meeting some of Shima-chan’s friends and doing ikanbari. Debbie finished painting a picture onit. The ladies loved Debbie’s hair!

Today, Shima-chan and her husband brought over the basket that Debbie made after applying the final touches of shibugaki dye and a clear varnish. Doesn’t it look nice?!

The time has gone all too fast and we wish we could do lots more together. It has been an amazing time..especially when you think it was Debbie’s first overseas trip. We had such a good time! See you in Philly, Debbie!

And , of course, we can’t forget the private performance of shinobue bamboo flute by Takanori and Yoshinori Futagami on Wednesday evening! Then their grandfather presented Debbie with a special flute he had made himself!

Thank you , everyone for making this such a special time! I’m sure Debbie will never forget yo all and the special times we had together! It was BIG fun!!
