Hearty Scotch Broth

1 lb. lamb shanks or beef ( I used pork)

1/4 cup pearl barley

1 1/2 teas salt

3 sprigs parsley

2 whole cloves

1 bay leaf

5 cups water  SImmer 1 hour. Add:

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup diced carrot

1/4 cup chopped celery

1/4 cup diced turnip (or daikon!)

Simmer 30 minutes! Keeps in frig for several days!
